Franchise Rules

Franchise Names

All franchises are named after Atlantic Coast Conference institutions. Current franchises are listed on the league home page If there were to be an expansion to a twelve-team league, Clemson and Wake Forest would become the final franchises.

Franchise Fees

The current franchise fee is $100, per franchise, per year. This fee is wholly to fund the prize pool. This fee does NOT include the cost of registering a team with a fantasy baseball website.

The Commissioner can appoint a Treasurer to handle the league monies and payouts, or can serve the role himself.

Franchise Trading

Owners may trade franchises at any time during the off-season. A franchise trade involves total transfer of all players and rights thereto. Both franchises retain all future obligations to other owners from past trades. Financial obligations are those of an owner and not a franchise; owners cannot avoid paying fees by trading franchises. Owners may trade franchises for any reason.

Franchise trades are announced by both franchise owners contacting the league mailing list and confirming the details of the trade.

Franchise Renaming

If an owner wishes to acquire the name of another ACC team that is unused, the owner may petition the league to gain permission to use that franchise name.

If an owner wishes to acquire the name of another ACC team that is currently in use, the owners may trade the names of their franchises only. Such an announcement would be made by announcement to the e-mail list with both owners confirming.

Jim Van Fleet:There has been some success with trading only franchise names without the swap of actual players. Also, vacant team names have been adopted by returning the existing franchise name to the available pool. Both actions required the approval of other owners.
